Album

12 Golden Country Greats is the fifth studio album by the American rock band Ween, and their third on Elektra Records. The album marked the first and so far only time Ween limited themselves to a specific genre of music, in this case, country music. According to producer and friend of the band Ben Vaughn, Ween asked him to produce the album as he had already been working with musicians on the Nashville country scene, having produced Arthur Alexander's Lonely Just Like Me album and co-written songs. 12 Golden Country Greats - Ween. Ween - Japanese Cowboy. Ween - Piss Up A Rope. Ween - I Don't Want To Leave You On T. The main problem with 12 Golden Country Greats which only contains ten songs, by the way is that it's Ween's first album to concentrate on a single music genre and such concentration lends the impression that they consider themselves above the genre. But that isn't entirely the case. Ween recorded 12 Golden Country Greats in Nashville with numerous legendary musicians, including the Jordanaires, Buddy Spicher, Charlie McCoy, Hargus Pig Robbins, and Russ Hicks. The presence of these musicians gives the music a very authentic feeling, even though the songs stick to &. Monday 13 January 2020. 12 Golden Country Greats is the fifth album by the band Ween, the album mixes alternative rock with alternative country, it was also recorded in a ranch, and was the first time the band limited themselves to a certain genre for an album, the album brought in a wide sleection of seasoned Nashville musicians. The album contains fewer songs than the title suggests, this could be a homage to 20 Jazz Funk Greats, which also had fewer songs than the title suggests. 12 Golden Country Greats which only has 10 songs, oh those silly boys shows Ween stretching their sound to play real country music, and shows them keeping the vulgarity and immaturity of their past releases. What cannot be overlooked but often is when referring to this band, is the real talent and skill they possess. Released July 16, 1996. 12 Golden Country Greats Tracklist. I'm Holding You Lyrics. Weens 12 Golden Country Greats came out at the height of the so-called alt-country movement, consisting mostly of young bands applying vintage country-music accouterments to what were essentially roots-rock songs in the vein of Bruce Springsteen. Some regarded the movement as a subversion of the country genre, so in grand Ween fashion, 12 Golden Country Greats subverted the subversion. Reverential without being duplicative, Weens album isn't at all sarcastic. Dean and Gene Ween genuinely loved the '60s and '70s Nashville albums at which the alt-country bands rolled their eyes
