Heligoland is the fifth studio album by English electronic music duo Massive Attack, released on 8 February 2010 by Virgin Records. Named after a German archipelago, it was their first studio album in seven years, following 100th Window 2003. It has been certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry BPI. The record features vocals of Horace Andy, as well as guest vocalists: Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio, Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz, Hope Sandoval of Hope Sandoval and the Warm. Heligoland - Massive Attack. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Massive Attack are an English trip hop group formed in 1988 in Bristol, consisting of Robert 3D Del Naja, Grant Daddy G Marshall and formerly free to Massive Attack Heligoland Pray for Rain, Babel and more. 10 tracks 53:05. The fifth regular studio album, by the British music production duo's collective, titled after the German archipelago. It was released on February 5-9, 2010 - seven years after 100th Window. The record features always-chosen guest singer, Horace Andy and the following other invited vocalists: Tunde Adebimpe, Damon Albarn, Hope Sandoval, Guy Garvey and Martina Topley-Bird as well as guitar playing by Adrian Utley of Portishead, keys from John Baggott who also works with Portishead, keys and bass. Album 2010 10 Songs. Traces of 90s trip-hop cant help but find their way into these songs, but the music here feels more evolved, its well-lived parts more intricately woven. Guests include TV On the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe, Damon Albarn, Hope Sandoval, and Elbow's Guy Garvey, along with semi-regular Horace Andy, and that lineup alone speaks volumes about the intended tone of the collection. Миллионы композиций. Heligoland marks a return to departures. The sound of Massive Attack circa 2010 has some similarities to what the group has done in the past, but overall, this represents a radical shift in music-making. Granted, most of the Massive Attack hallmarks are still here: gripping music laden with tension and dread, a production that sounds fathoms deep, and an insular worldview represented by a cast of vocalists both new and old. Посмотреть сведения об участниках альбома, рецензии, композиции и приобрести альбом 2010 CD от Heligoland на - the first non-soundtrack Massive Attack album in seven years and the first with Daddy G back on board in 12- misses that quality. The undercurrent of menace and sadness that defined Massive Attack's best music is largely absent, replaced with a drowsy, half-formed gloom that, if anything, suggests resignation instead of dread. Last fall's Splitting the Atom EP offered a couple of warning signs that reappear on this album. Pray for Rain is a woozy, overlong dirge redeemed only by Tunde Adebimpe's rich voice, the only instrument that bothers with anything

Solid Press and good album, not closer to Mezzanine or Blue Lines but certainly worth having.
Horrible crackle and distortion on right channel, especially in the beginning of each side, even after ultra sonic cleaning. No same problem with other records so it is just this pressing. (My set up:Audio Note Three turntable + Audio Note IOII MC cartridge) Too bad as the music is great and cover too.
Another thumbs up for this pressing. Reference quality in all respects.
hi, just wondering if is this 33 or 45? thanks.
It's 33 rpm and it definitely sounds, feels and looks great!
Amazing reissue, packaging, sound, dynamics, been waiting for this a long time. Initial track "Pray for rain" sounds the band is playing in your living room, grab this while you can.
Finally a repress of this incredible album ! Great Reissue, mastering, and packaging
Freaky Hook
Paradise circus back ground is very distorted . As with other tracks .. Had to recheck my stylus as I thought it was fluff causing this .... bad pressing.
Got my copy from Canada but looks like my cart was jumping on every first track on each side like crazy, skipping etc... So, I got a replacement and this happened again :) Third item is on the way. I can't just stay without this album on wax so I'm trying to find a good copy for my collection. Also, my cart is Benz LP on VPI Scout and setup fine. Table is leveled. Has anyone noticed the same issue? Hope it's not a bad batch that got.
Not really. It's 1.9g for Benz LP it's recommended by manufacturer. This only happens with only this album from my collection and I got three copies from already with the same issue. The price the was best there. Cartridge really jumps and shakes on the first few minutes of each side then plays normal. With eye inspection there is sort of dent on first tracks approximately 3mm in diameter. That doesn't look like physical damage but most like manufacture defect and it's barely noticeable.
Could it be an issue with your tracking force? Do you have anti-skate? I haven't tested mine out yet but I just might now even though it's well outside of the return window for Listening to it now. The first track has a constant bit of crackling but is otherwise ok. Not happy about the crackling but I did play it without cleaning it off with my brush first (it looks super clean). No skipping so far.
The mastering on this LP is amazing, the artwork is to die for. A quiet, extremely dynamic pressing. I would kiss the mastering engineer right now.
OMG! Am I dead? I just realized it has been repressed and ordered it asap from $32+shipping. Canada rules!!!
lmao why was this so hard to find, is it limited edition or smth
This has been one of the most elusive re-issues for which I am now a proud owner. after years of toying with the idea of buying an original, the wait is finally over. The cover and inner sleeves are high quality, the outer is oversized in width so it wont fit any snug protective covers, you'll have to stick the record in sideways. The inner artwork is your typical Massive attack imagery not much text to speak of. the inner art booklet is a nice touch. The real gem here are the record pressings themselves. Superbly pressed finished well clean and sounded magnificent on of my planer3. For the price $35 Canadian its a quality package
think this is a pretty, if a little lazy, reissue. Same outer sleeve as for the 3 disc original, just applied glue on one panel to suit the 2 disc rather than reduce the size, so...don't expect to hang this on the wall as the tri-fold makes it too wide, and wider than any normal LP packaging. Worth paying £28 for but no more.
Just received my copy yesterday from amazon (pre-ordered back in 2017)...finally it's here. 32.00 canadian. Now looking at amazon, it's already been bumped up to 54.99 canadian. Hilarious. The record - outstanding.
Croatia, 24 eurosSound is great, superb design. This reissue is absolute win!
Got this yesterday, as I pre-ordered it from amazon. Wow, sounds fantastic, and absolutely beautiful packaging.
Bought this yesterday at my local indie shop in MONTREAL for 35.00 cad, they had just received them . I did not open it yet. Beautiful / heavy packaging. Glad to have this. I hope it sounds good.
Just bought this for 29.99cdn in TORONTO, this records finally in my hands and what a beautiful production, well worth the wait! Beautiful sounding, even hearing notes I had never heard before with my added pre-amp, well done! Very happy! Now back to making great music, with less political notes!
I love this release. Beautiful packaging, the art booklet is pretty cool, and sonically it sounds amazing. People want to call it a money grab but it pre-ordered for $23. The people that bought multiple and are now flipping them for 3x the cost are the money grabbers. I am happy to give massive attack some money they have gifted me with some of my favorite music. Excellent release!
I picked this up from an online retailer for 27.99EUR, including shipping. Shortly after they bumped they price up to 75.99 like most others . I don't understand why so many retailers are now increasing their prices sharply for the this release, at least in Europe?
Apparently this is a Label decision. I had ordered it at a local store which replied to me saying they couldn't propose it at the initial price due to this decision.
Just bought this at a record store in Portland OR for $28. Lowest price on Discogs is $66 - come on record flippers, knock it off.I haven't opened mine yet, will listen to it tonight - but wow, this thing is huge, thick, heavy! Has a unique glitter embedded cover. This has always been my fav album of theirs after Mezzanine. Can't wait to get blunted and give this a proper spin tonight!
Has anyone who pre-ordered it from received it? Mine still hasn't been shipped. "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date." WTF
Scoreboard Bleeding
same for me. Clearly amazon are fulfilling the orders for all the other countries first (probably because it's priced higher elsewhere). Chill, i'm sure it'll arrive in the end.
Don't lose hope - as I wrote below, mine has been shipped yesterday.
I ordered a copy in 2016 only to have them give me the same b.s. response about not having any stock. I also pre-ordered it from two other non-Amazon sellers and not a single one was able to get me a copy, despite having placed my orders in late 2016. So stupid.
Super P
Update - my order is being shipped. So it was worth the wait.
Wow, I didn't know you could do that. I wonder what your friend said to them.
They preordered them out with not enough in stock so I called customer service and they had me purchase a third party one and comped me for the remainder which was $80. I didn’t have to get crazy on them but my friend had the same situation with his and he had to put up a fight, they still did it. Jeff Bazos can afford it.
Same issue here. No info about estimated delivery yet. I'm considering about buying it in some record store even for a few bucks more.
I pre-ordered mine from Amazon on the 25th of April. No shipping yet. It currently says “Temporarily out of stock,” but it seems like they didn’t even receive any or they just are going really fast. When I pre-ordered mine it was priced at $23.99 and now it’s at $34.98. Hopefully it’ll be in stock soon!
Waiting on mine, it’s supposed to arrive today but it doesn’t show as shipped
nope not had anything, and if you look they no longer have it for sale themselves, just from marketplace sellers. I'm not too confident they will ship it.
Light out of Fildon
$33 at my indie and what a wonderful issue. So happy to be able to have this in my collection.
£62 on Amazon UK and HMV. Is it pressed on gold leaf? dope leaf? They are dopes.
Cost 25 EUR in my local store. Had to wait ages before I could finally get it on Vinyl. Sounds amazing, very little cracks and pops. Artwork is great. Front of the sleeve seems to be handmade but that almost sounds unrealistic. Great work of art. If you can find it at 25 EUR don’t hesitate! ;-)
I picked it up in the Netherlands on the weekend for 27.99EUR from - just received it today. They have now increased the price 75EUR. WHY???
Actually impossible to buy this item for just 25 Euro in Germany (and i assume the same will be in other countries.). It's the double price. If you bought it for 25 Euro, your belgian store did a mistake. luck for you.
Lucky you. Which country are you at?The price is ridiculous in the UK.
This is a total money grab. £51.99, and it's missing the vital third remix LP. My local store are in uproar and said they're refusing to stock this out of principal. Why UMC have priced this at over double the price their other rereleases, can only be concluded as a MA / UMC cash-in on fans who have been desperate to add this to their collection. Have a look at the pricing of all the other general UMC reissues, literally all are less than £20, many of which are also double albums. I don't doubt it'll sound good, as literally all UMC reissues do and the poster below has highlighted, but at this price it's very bitter purchase for vinyl fans of this wonderful band, 28 page booklet or not.
That must be some kind of VAT removed price, mine jumped to £51.49... . oh I don't know, this is getting so complex, I need to enrol in a 'vinyl economics' night-school. I have been sent a few emails to some major distributors, in search of a definitive answer - i'll keep you all posted. UMC probably won't comment. I have sent them a few unrelated emails in the past, and I never had any responses.
No, I've put it in my shopping cart, and the price is still £42.91. Maybe the prices vary depending on the area. I'm from Russia. However there's only 1 copy available.
It's not correct - if you click on the Juno £42.91 link it takes you to a £51.49 page. Just out of interested, the cheapest I can find is What Records at £44.99 but it still says 'Release date to be confirmed' so I think the price will go up. For some reason, the UK, France, Germany prices are all very high, USA is very cheap - so what are we talking here... its a USA pressing and the price hike is for distribution / VAT costs? Yet why is Belgium selling copies at €24?
It costs £42.91 at Juno, and they usually have the lowest prices, so yeah, it's quite expensive in Europe. I pre-ordered it from for $24, but it still hasn't been shipped. I suspect there were so many pre-orders that not everyone will receive it. But I'm not buying it for £43 - I don't really like this album this much, just wanted to complete my collection.
that definitely has to be your local record stores distributor gouging them on the price. I'm here in the US and paid $32. The third vinyl not vital to have this album. keep looking.
I paid $34 which would be around £25. Very fair considering the packaging. Sounds like the record store is gouging.
I've seen UK indie stores (Transmission for one) say that the Universal have set the price so high in the uk that about £52 is the lowest you can really sell it for to without losing money. So they have said they will refuse to stock it.
I'm from Belgium, Antwerp area. I would feel ripped off too, but it will not be the pressing company but your local record company that is trying to shell more money on it.
Can I ask what country you are in? I feel were being ripped off to an obscene level here in the UK. I have a friend in France who said its €49, an improvement, but not the super low prices that yourself and others are highlighting.
It was 25 EUR in my local shop, so they are not overcharging. Must be the local distributor that is trying to make some extra on it...
This reissue is very impressive. Exceptional packaging, thick art book, and a pressing that is deep and rich and smooth as a 12 Year Bourbon, all make for a stunning release. I had a couple spots of tack glue on the inside sleeves but they were easily wiped/smudged off. Superlative pressing!

I completely agree! I was ecstatic to see they gave this a glitter treatment on the jacket like the original release. Solid jacket material, solid pressing on heavyweight vinyl. I cant believe I am finally spinning this release!
