Album

Antidotes is the debut studio album by British indie rock band Foals. It was released on 24 March 2008 in the United Kingdom on Transgressive Records, and on 8 April 2008 in the United States through Sub Pop. The album's themes are varied and cryptic, but are generally melancholic and focused on relationships. They are exemplified by the four singles: Balloons, Cassius, Red Socks Pugie, and Olympic Airways. Listen free to Foals Antidotes The French Open, Cassius and more. 11 tracks 46:47. This debut album was released on March 24, 2008. Foals remixed Antidotes in London, complaining that Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio made it sound like it was recorded in the Grand Canyon. The debut album from Foals, Antidotes, was released in 2008 and set the ground for what was yet to come in terms of critical success for the English band. Four singles were released from the album: Balloons , Cassius , Red Socks Pugie and Olympic Airways. Antidotes offers a new sound to the indie music scene, with clear pop and rock influences. Often linked to the math-rock genre, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis disregards this idea, stating that: I just think its pop music really, to be honest, or like dance. We try to make some of it more danceable with guitars. I just think its weir. Album 2008 13 Songs. Other Versions. 11 Songs. Music Videos. Red Socks Pugie. Olympic Airways. More by Foals. Fortunately, Antidotes is able to live up to the hype. Frontman Yannis Philippakis uses his limited vocal range to his greatest advantage, moving from yelps to half-whispered singing depending on the intensity of the piece. In fact, the one drawback of the album may be that Foals have only two types of songs: the faster, punchy ones and the slower, spacier ones. Select language. The press is calling them math rock and the band members have cited Gwen Stefani and Steve Reich, but Foals are squarely in a more recent and less exotic tradition: the hi-gloss end of the post-punk revival. Antidotes suggests these are mostly red herrings. Foals are squarely in a more recent and less exotic tradition- the hi-gloss end of the post-punk revival: Think a more playful Bloc Party, a more measured Futureheads, a less heartfelt Maxïmo Park. That's not to say they lack their own sound. Stream Antidotes D2C Only, a playlist by FOALS from desktop or your mobile device. Antidotes D2C Only. Alternative Rock. Not available in United States.
