Bolland born Christian Jay Bolland, 18 June 1971, Stockton-on-Tees, England is a Belgian electronic music producer and remixer with British roots. Born in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, Bolland's family moved to Antwerp in Flanders, Belgium, when he was three years old. As a teenager, he was strongly influenced by the Belgian underground scene of new wave, electro and EBM embodied by artists such as Front 242, Neon Judgement and The Klinik. ‘Heaven on Earth’ borrowing heavily from Chris Carter’s groundbreaking analogue synths... Chris and Cosey ‘Walking through Heaven’, as the title suggests..

This is an excellent record...I remember dancing to 'Heaven On Earth' @ Heaven gay club way, way back and searched the record out a few years later... Cee Jay I would love to make a track with you! Best wishes and techno-peace from bagpussmaths67x

Cj Bolland is wonderful. His music changes overtime but it always stays good.....ravesignal one and two were is more happy and heavenly sounding albums then he gets hardcore with ravesignal 3 (ravesignal 2 being my favorite) rave signal is the perfect mix of his old sound and new....... 4th sin is more of a strange mix and enjoyable variety, Electronic highway is more of an adventure and a great one at that, analog theater goes really violent....but still good.

The track "Heaven On Earth" is perhaps the standout track on this excellent release, however "Wonderland" pushes it very hard for first place. Looking back it is fair to say that this release is well ahead of the time for 1990 - it is certainly not the typical dark and heavy techno release that you would have come to expect in 1990, especially from our European friends just across the water. "Heaven On Earth" is a well-crafted piece of music with a great spacey intro, bang into the energetic pace that lasts right through to the climax of an ending and "Wonderland" is a more subtle track, with a great, almost haunting rhythm. Both superb bits of techno either of which would grace any old skool set today. What about the other tracks on here? Well "Golden Dreams" has a true thumping beat, and it works well coupled well with quite acidic blips and bleeps (which given the release year is nothing surprising really). "Get A Buzz" is certainly a slower, slightly softer track than the others on this record, but that said it still passes for techno, albeit softer techno, with a mix of melodic, harmonic chords with a steady rhythmic beat. All in all, nothing comes across as rushed with this release, and all the tracks are beatifully arranged. I love this record, thanks CJ.

I heard this record when it was first released in 1990. I strongly recommend everyone whose into electronic music (technotrance) to listen to this EP. In particular to the sublime "Heaven on Earth". The chorus to that track is a soul charging electric experience & the finale towards the end with a sweet Roland TB303 acid sequence drilling and tickling your mind can only be described as beautiful and aggressive, this is a very rare style combination nowadays but was very prolific amongst the R&S releases of the time. I hope this gets re-released in a CD format, all 3 of my copies are worn out!

I never heard this E.P. before I found it in a bargain bin for AUD$ 5.00 at a S/H record store. I though I had died and gone straigh to heaven...my hand were sweaty from the anticipation.......and then, when I finally heard it, I realized why I never heard it before: terrible, thick, "Intelligent" Rave trying to be Trancey in a really laboured, post-Rave manner. It was unsuitable for dancefloors and annoying for chill-out. Something C.J. Bolland amply made up for with his watershed "Ravesignal III" This record shocked me so much at the store, forgot to grab it, which on hindsight was silly: the record cover was fantastic. (..as well as complete the trio...: ) C.J.'s first true dud.

I agree. Totally irreverent. 1990? What was it called or trying to be or wanting to be something I had never heard of while still going crazy,.

Indeed. 1990 = "post-Rave"?? lmfao! :D

This review is by someone who never graced a European dancefloor during this exciting era..
